Good God

"Maybe God is calling us out of our comfort zone to wake us up to a reality that good things are coming…"

Brittani Garner

Whenever God calls us out of a place of comfort, it's usually because He is preparing us for something new, greater, or better. Whatever it is, you can guarantee that it is good, no matter what our feelings tell us. However, we must trust the process and do our part (be obedient). From the beginning, God intended for His image-bearers to share in His goodness, not because of anything that they did, but it was because He was (and still is) good. Unfortunately, Adam and Eve disobeyed God, fell victim to sin, and were removed from the place that God created for them. They no longer had access to that place of rest because of their decision, forfeiting the good thing that God had for them.

Psalm 84:11 says “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Now when we read the word uprightly we may immediately think of living a perfect life and doing everything right. Well my dear friend, let me free you of that thought. Neither you nor I, cannot be perfect and our good deeds do not deem us as upright. The word uprightly here has to do with a heart of integrity. When we are intentional about abiding in His presence and living in a way that honors God, we gain access to His blessings (goodness): favor, honor, protection, and provision.

This has been a season of divine realignment for many believers and God has shaken the foundations of our comfort zones. He is calling us out from among the familiar places and preparing us for something new, greater, and better for His name's sake. It has not been the easiest process for me but the more I spend in His presence and at His feet, the more clarity I receive. If there is one thing that I can take away from my journey so far is that God is truly a sun and shield: He will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.”

After you finish reading this post, I encourage you to read Psalm 84 in its entirety (in different translations). The way the psalmist expressed his longing for God's presence and the beautiful reward, as a result, is quite encouraging and uplifting. I've often struggled with feeling as if I wasn't doing enough to please God and ruling myself as unworthy but came to the truth that God's goodness in my life would not be a result of my performance. God just wants my heart and trust, and that my blessings (favor, honor, protection, and provision) will come when I seek Him above all else and find my strength in Him alone (v5).

When God has many blessings in store for you my friend and He wants you to obtain them, not because you deserve them, but because He loves you and He is Good. So, leave the old behind and step into the new. Allow God to close those doors to what was and lead you into what will be.He is Good and He can be trusted.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, your ways are higher than ways and your thoughts are not mine, but I trust that you know what's best for me. Every day I am faForgive me for holding on to what you have instructed me to let go of. Give me the strength I need to move forward in you. Your word said that we seek your Kingdom first and your righteousness all of my needs will be met. Your word also says that you will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. Father, I asked that you will search my heart and reveal anything that would keep me from walking uprightly and anything that would interfere with my pursuit of you. I need your help and your guidance in the days to come and thereafter, Lord give me wisdom and strength. Thank you for hearing my prayer and for loving me unconditionally. I Jesus Name I Bodley pray, Amen.
